It’s Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Here’s what’s new in food safety today.

What to know: President Trump has again nominated Mindy Brashears to be USDA Under Secretary for Food Safety. Her nomination for the Senate confirmation process is now before the Senate Committee on Agriculture. A hearing date has not yet been scheduled.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has held two meetings recently looking at chemicals in water and the use of foresight in food safety. The agency has published summaries of both meetings with full reports available later this year.
