Food regulated by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service as well as that falling under the Food and Drug Administration's jurisdiction saw explosive increases in volumes recalled during 2025’s third quarter.

More than 130 people have fallen sick in the United Kingdom with Shigella infections. Most of them had been to Cape Verde before getting ill.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said recent laboratory surveillance data has shown an increase in Shigella in England.

Scientists have described how text message surveillance helped discover several Salmonella outbreaks.

Researchers in Australia trialed several methods to contact notified salmonellosis cases to collect information on exposures and risks, focusing on the feasibility of Short Message Service-based surveillance.

The FDA has declared an outbreak of Salmonella Richmond traced to organic moringa leaf powder sold at Sam’s club stores to be over.

There were 11 confirmed patients from seven states. Illnesses started on dates ranging from May 12 to Sept. 4. Three of the patients had to be hospitalized, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

More than 220 suspected frauds were reported in Europe in October, potentially triggering investigations in member states.

The Food and Drug Administration uses import alerts to enforce U.S. food safety regulations for food from foreign countries. The agency updates and modifies the alerts as needed.
