Low Salmonella found in breaded chicken; UK councils warn of dodgy consultants

What to know: A survey commissioned in Ireland after a large outbreak has found a low prevalence of Salmonella in breaded chicken products.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) asked manufacturers to ensure that chilled and frozen coated poultry products include appropriate cooking instructions and are clearly labeled as non-ready-to-eat.

Key sessions at this year’s Food Safety Summit will be live streamed for free. The event is set for May 12-15 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.

The public is invited to attend the live-streamed sessions.

Several councils in England and Scotland have issued warnings following reports of misleading approaches by consultants to food companies.

Aberdeenshire Council’s Environmental Health Service said food businesses need to be aware of national consultancy companies contacting operators in a misleading and intimidating manner.
