It’s Friday, July 25, 2025. As we wrap up the week, here are the headlines making waves in food safety.

What to know: One person has died in a Listeria outbreak linked to ready meals. Nine confirmed cases of listeriosis have been identified. Ballymaguire Foods has recalled hundreds of products because of a link with the outbreak.

The federal government wants business and industry to offer information about processed foods so a national definition of such foods can be formulated. 

A caterer in Singapore has been fined in relation to an outbreak which sickened more than 170 people. The company said it had come to a realization that the root cause of the incident lies in serious management negligence.

Toronto Public Health is reporting a confirmed case of hepatitis A in an employee working at Earls Kitchen + Bar and is encouraging diners who may have been exposed to the virus to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
