It’s Friday, Nov. 28, 2025. We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Today we’re covering newly released FDA records showing longstanding issues at a ByHeart formula facility, a fast-growing Salmonella outbreak in the UK, three closed federal outbreak investigations, and an international takedown of counterfeit food production in Ukraine.

The FDA has released documents showing that unsanitary conditions at a production plant for ByHeart infant formula and positive tests for pathogens have been going on since at least 2022.

A Salmonella outbreak in the UK that has sickened more than 120 people could be linked to imported eggs, according to initial investigations.

The link to eggs was made through patient interviews and food supply chain investigations.

The Food and Drug Administration has closed investigations into three foodborne illness outbreaks.

Authorities in Ukraine have uncovered the manufacture and sale of food products made to mimic well-known brands.

Detectives from the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine (ESBU) in the Kyiv region found the counterfeit goods were manufactured in unsanitary conditions in underground workshops.

Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends and feasting. Once the holiday meal ends, the spotlight turns to enjoying the leftovers in the days ahead. To keep those leftovers safe to eat, the U.S. Department of Agriculture provides essential food safety tips.

The Food and Drug Administration uses import alerts to enforce U.S. food safety regulations for food from foreign countries. The agency updates and modifies the alerts as needed.
