It’s Thursday, October 9, 2025. Today’s newsletter uncovers pressing food safety concerns, from cinnamon fraud in Europe to ongoing Listeria outbreak investigations in the U.S.

What to know: An analysis of cinnamon on the European market has discovered fraud and potential safety issues.

Scientists said the problem requires attention given the projected increase of the global cinnamon market.

The Food and Drug Administration is continuing to investigate several outbreaks, but is reporting little information on most of the investigations.

For an outbreak of Listeria infections the FDA has updated its advisory to include additional brands of ready-to-eat pasta meals on the recall list.

Laboratory-grade accuracy, production line speed

Every quality director knows the tension between fast release times and thorough Salmonella testing. Traditional protocols force you to choose between speed and confidence.

Bio-Rad built its reputation refusing to accept that trade-off. Our iQ-Check technology earned industry trust because detection accuracy was never compromised. That same commitment drives EZ-Check.

The EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit achieves what the industry considered impossible - AOAC-validated and AFNOR NF-certified detection through a 2-step workflow. This dual certification confirms that streamlined protocols deliver the laboratory-grade precision your operations depend on.

Multiplex amplification with integrated internal controls maintains detection sensitivity while dramatically reducing processing complexity. Built-in safeguards prevent false negatives.

Food manufacturers implementing EZ-Check report testing turnaround times that align with operational needs. Finished goods spend less time in holding. Distribution commitments get met consistently. Quality standards stay intact while efficiency improves measurably.

Brazil has recorded 217 cases of methanol poisoning following adulterated alcohol consumption.
