What to know: A multistate Salmonella outbreak tied to organic and cage free eggs from August Egg Company has sickened 79 people and prompted a nationwide recall, according to the CDC.

Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) and Listeria infections in Europe are at their highest levels since the start of EU-wide surveillance in 2007.

Disease severity is also showing an increasing trend for both STEC infections and listeriosis.

The FDA has issued warning letters to three food processing companies— Kingdom Creamery of Vermont LLC, One Roof LLC, and Breadbox Co. — for significant violations of federal food safety regulations.

These violations, identified during inspections in 2024, raise concerns about potential health hazards, including Listeria monocytogenes contamination, allergen mislabeling and inadequate sanitation practices.

Korean authorities have announced the recall of two products as part of an investigation into a foodborne outbreak.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said Salmonella was detected in “High Calcium Strawberry Cream Roll Cake” and “High Calcium Wheat Chocolate Banana Bread.”
