It’s Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025. Today we’re covering new developments in the ByHeart infant botulism outbreak, a fresh FDA probe into a Salmonella cluster, and global actions aimed at strengthening food safety — from import violations to emergency response capacity.

Two more babies have been added to the patient count for an outbreak of infant botulism infections traced to ByHeart powdered infant formula.

The Food and Drug Administration reports that there are now 39 infants across 18 states from coast to coast who are infected.

The Food and Drug Administration is investigating a new outbreak of infections from Salmonella Saintpaul.

The agency has not yet identified a source of the pathogen, which has sickened at least 44 people. The FDA has not released any patient information, including patients’ ages or where they live.

Able Groupe Inc., a company that sold infant formula on the website LittleBundle.com, pleaded guilty in late November to two felony charges for smuggling European infant formula and importing it into the United States in violation of FDA’s Prior Notice Requirements.

A Korean agency has been chosen as the first center that will focus on food safety emergencies for the World Health Organization.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) was named as the "Food Safety Emergency Response Collaborating Center" by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Prosecutors in Peru are continuing to investigate potential crimes related to the 2024 school food program.

The Prosecutor's Office for Corruption of Officials carried out raids on 13 properties in La Libertad, Áncash and Lima in November. The operation was led by provincial prosecutor Reynaldo Abia Arrieta, and five assistants, who helped to seize electronic equipment, cell phones, and cash.
